新加坡－紐約這條史上最遠的直飛班機下月即將停飛，因油價上漲與全球經濟等因素，新加坡航空公司宣布這趟長達19小時的航線將走入歷史，而用來乘載最長航線的新加坡航空A340客機也將身退。

未來將改由新加坡飛德國法蘭克福，再轉紐約；票價雖比原來的32萬便宜了約台幣6萬元，但旅行時間會增加5小時。據彭博新聞網站報導，油價與全球景氣是這條線結束的主要原因，全球不景氣使華爾街縮減員工出差且10年來油價漲了3倍，造成不利獲利而停飛。

這條新加坡－紐約的航線共有16700公里長，須分別由4名機長共同分擔這19小時的飛行時間；2004年新加坡航空增設的新加坡－紐約航線創下全球史上最遠的直飛紀錄。
